Upcoming Event: Swim-a-Thon Fundraiser
June 8th
2022 BVST Swim-A-Thon Fundraiser
Hello, Flyers - please read for important swim-a-thon details and day of practice updates.
SWIM-A-THON: Monday, May 13th, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
All Briar Flyer age groups should arrive by 6:00 pm (or 10 minutes prior) and check-in with the Coaches for lane assignment/swim time.
Prizes, raffles, games, and music - come and swim for a good cause, stay and play!
DO I HAVE PRACTICE ON SWIM-A-THON DAY? YES!!! We adjusted the event to compensate for a delayed pool opening.
Briar Flyer and Junior Flyer swimmers should plan to attend their regularly scheduled morning practice sessions. Briar Flyers will return to the pool to swim in the evening. All BVST families and those supporting the team are welcome to join us at the pool.
LET'S MAKE IT COUNT: All BVST families are encouraged to enlist sponsors.
Briar Flyers participating in the event must turn in a pledge sheet. Non-swimmers and anyone who are unable to attend can still participate (donation form is attached).
All we ask for is you make an effort to try. You will be surprised at how many people are willing to support a good cause and their community.
WHOM DO I ASK FOR PLEDGES?
Ask your friends,
grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors, and parents' co-workers who may be
interested in sponsoring you – and, of course, Mom & Dad! Some people like
to donate 10 cents, 25 cents, or 50 cents a lap and enjoy seeing how many laps
you'll swim. Others may prefer to donate a lump sum amount.
PLEASE READ: WHY IS THE SWIM-A-THON-IMPORTANT?
The swim-a-thon is our BIGGEST FUNDRAISING event and supports the Briar Flyer and Junior Flyer swim programs.
Our fundraising efforts this year are critical. Our team is 30% smaller than in past years due to families moving and aged-out athletes.
Fundraiser proceeds augment the income of the Briar Village Swim Team and support the Briar Flyer and Junior Flyer swim programs. Proceeds fund team operating expenses and activities while keeping swimmer registration fees low.
The swim team is non-profit and 100% volunteer-run. Please show your support and join us in raising money for our swim team.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Athletes request donations from sponsors (family and friends), either per lap (one pool length) or lump sum donations from as many donors as possible. Each swimmer will swim as many laps as possible and then collect their sponsors' pledges. Volunteers and coaches will track and tally the total laps swam.
